Abstract

This study is based on Riskesdas data on Mental Emotional Disorders aged >15 years in 2013 of 6% and an increase in 2018 to 9.8%. Adolescence is an important phase in individual development, often characterised by academic challenges such as exams. Exam anxiety is a psychological problem that can affect students' learning achievement and mental health. Social support from family, peers and significant others is an important factor in helping students overcome anxiety. This study aims to analyse the relationship between social support and anxiety in adolescents. This study is a quantitative study with a cross sectional research design. Sampling using proportiante stratified random sampling technique. The number of samples obtained was 90 respondents of class XII at SMAN 1 Padalarang. The measuring instruments used were the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) social support questionnaire and the Zung Self Anxiety Rating Scale (ZSAS) anxiety which was valid and reliable. Furthermore, the data obtained were analysed using the frequency distribution formula for univariate data and chi square correlation for bivariate data. The results of research on the relationship between social support and anxiety facing school exams of students in class XII SMAN 1 Padalarang obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05) which can be concluded that there is a relationship between social support and anxiety facing school exams of students in class XII SMAN 1 Padalarang. It is expected that teachers can follow up on providing interventions to students who have low social support and high anxiety. Keywords : Adolescents, School Exams, Social Support, Anxiety.
