Abstract

ABSTRACT This case study is motivated by the high incidence of sectio ceasarea surgery in Indonesia. When a mother undergoes cesarean section, the fetus is delivered through an incision in the abdominal wall (laparatomy) and uterine wall (hysterectomy). This causes very strong pain. The author performs treatment to reduce patient pain by applying non-pharmacological interventions, namely music therapy. This case study uses a descriptive case study design. The subjects involved were post sectio ceasarea patients with acute pain problems. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, physical examination, and documentation. The results of the music therapy intervention for 3 days in the hospital and 2 days through home visits showed a decrease in pain in post sectio ceasarea patients. In conclusion, music therapy intervention in post sectio ceasarea patients can reduce pain. For mothers who undergo sectio ceasarea, it is hoped that they can do music therapy as an independent effort to reduce pain.
