Abstract

The research is background by the high incidence of pulmonary TB in Indonesia, which ranks third after India and China. Pulmonary tuberculosis diseases requires a long treatment time, anxiety disorders can arise during treatment and can be an obstacle to successful treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between length of treatment and the anxiety level of pulmonary TB patients at the pulmonary polyclinic at Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province. Pulmonary TB is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. The duration of TB treatment lasts 6-12 months, the length of treatment is the calculation of the time when the patient starts therapy at the time of diagnosis until the last day of taking the medicine. The anxiety of pulmonary TB patients is caused by excessive worry about their disease. The researcher chose the quantitative method, with analytic observational type of research, correlation analysis techniques, and cross sectional as the research design. Samples obtained by purposive sampling technique amounted to 80 respondents. The instrument used is the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS/SRAS). Data analysis with Chi Square statistical test. The results of the study showed that the length of treatment and the anxiety level of pulmonary TB patients was obtained (p value = 0.026 <0.05) which means that there is a relationship between the length of treatment and the anxiety level of pulmonary TB patients at the Pulmonary Polyclinic at Al – Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province in 2023. Results of this study recommends hospitals to educate pulmonary TB patients so that they can prevent or reduce anxiety due to prolonged treatment of pulmonary TB.
