Abstract

This case study is motivated by the increasing incidence of hypertension in Indonesia. The prevalence rate of hypertension increases with age and is associated with risk factors for hypertension such as stress, obesity, excessive salt consumption, smoking, lack of physical activity, genetics, age and gender. The purpose of this case study is to describe family nursing care mother. D with chronic pain due to hypertension in RW 03, Dungus Cariang Village, the Working Area of the Garuda Health Center, Bandung City. This case study uses a descriptive method. The results of the case study showed that there was a decrease in the headache scale from 5 to 0 (0-10) and a decrease in blood pressure from 140/100 mmHg to 120/90 mmHg after family nursing care, especially deep breathing relaxation interventions for 5 consecutive days with exercise frequency 2 times a day (day and night). This is in line with the research of Saputri, Ayubbana, & Sari (2022) that deep breathing relaxation can increase lung ventilation and oxygen in the blood, so that the body relaxes and can reduce pain and blood pressure in people with hypertension. It is recommended that health care nurses at the puskesmas be able to provide direct coaching to family members who experience chronic pain due to hypertension, especially in the application of non-pharmacological therapy by teaching deep breathing relaxation techniques according to the procedure.
