Abstract

Polytechnic Ministry of Health Bandung Bandung Nursing Department Nursing Diploma III Study Program Bandung Bandung, June 2023 Rizkia Sabrina P17320120078 NURSING CARE OF NEONATES WITH HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA IN THE PERINATOLOGY ROOM RSUD AL – IHSAN WEST JAVA PROVINCE ABSTRACT xiv, 57 page, 5 chapters, 1 picture, 1 chart, 2 tables,, 10 appendix Hyperbilirubinemia is a disease that occurs in neonates and is also included in the top ten diseases that cause death in infants. Hyperbilirubinemia is a condition in which total serum bilirubin ≥ 5 mg/dL. The complication that occurs if the increase in bilirubin is not managed appropriately is kern jaundice, which is a brain damage due to the presence of indirect bilirubin in the brain which can cause brain damage, deafness, speech impairment, and mental retardation. This case study aims to determine the description of nursing care for neonates with hyperbilirubinemia in the Perinatology Room of Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province. The method used is descriptive method with case study approach. The results of the study on nursing care were found that the neonate had grade 3 jaundice, the neonate looked yellow on the head, neck, chest, and hands up to the elbows, the body temperature was 36.4℃, and the neonate was lazy to drink. There are three nursing diagnoses namely jaundice neonate, hypothermia, and risk of nutrition deficit. Interventions carried out include providing phototherapy, hypothermia management, and nutrition management. Nursing evaluation found that respondents showed a good response and all nursing problems could be resolved. It is expected that the placement of neonates is not directly under the exposure of central air conditioning temperature to prevent hypothermia especially the bebies in opened boxes.
