Abstract

This Scientific Paper is motivated by the phenomenon of hypertension incidence, which shows that West Java Province has experienced an increase from 29.4% in 2013, to the second-highest prevalence of 39.6% in 2018. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a condition where systolic blood pressure is ≥ 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure is ≥ 90 mmHg. Common symptoms experienced by hypertensive patients are headaches or a feeling of heaviness in the neck, resulting in discomfort: Acute Pain. This case study aims to describe Nursing Care for Hypertensive Patients with Discomfort: Acute Pain in the head at Al-Ihsan Regional General Hospital, West Java Province. The case study method used is a descriptive design with a case study approach, and the research subject is a single client with a diagnosis of hypertension experiencing discomfort: acute pain in the head in the adult age category. "Data collection was conducted using a surgical medical nursing care format, and data presentation was done by narrating the obtained responses. After implementing nursing care for a period of 5 days, five nursing diagnoses were identified, namely acute pain, unstable blood glucose levels, risk of malnutrition, anxiety, and knowledge deficit, with a focus on managing the acute pain problem. The conclusion regarding the comfort disturbance is that acute pain in the head can be managed using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which includes positioning the patient in semi-fowler position, applying warm compress, and practicing deep breathing relaxation. It is recommended for the patient to modify their lifestyle in accordance with hypertension care and take independent measures in pain management.
