Abstract

This paper is motivated by the phenomenon of gastritis occurrences in West Java, which is still quite high at 61.6% of the total population in West Java. The Health Department of Bandung Regency stated that gastritis ranks third, affecting 1,590 individuals (3.58%). Gastritis is an inflammation or bleeding in the gastric mucosa caused by factors such as irritation, infection, and irregularities in eating patterns. Inflammation in the gastric mucosa can result in disturbances such as epigastric pain, leading to discomfort: Acute Pain. This case study aims to determine the description of nursing care for patients with Gastritis and discomfort disturbance: Acute Pain at Al-Ihsan Regional Hospital in West Java Province. The case study method used is a descriptive design with a case study approach, and the research subject is one client who has gastritis. Data collection is done using a surgical medical nursing care format, and data presentation is done by narrating the answers obtained from the patient. The results, after five days of nursing care, yielded five nursing diagnoses, one of which is a disturbance in the need for comfort: acute pain, and all five diagnoses were fully resolved. In conclusion, for patients with gastritis and discomfort disturbance: acute pain, one of the ways to alleviate it is by applying warm compress combined with deep breathing relaxation. Therefore, it is recommended that patients perform warm compress or deep breathing relaxation independently when experiencing pain.
