Abstract

This case study is motivated by the incidence of gout arthritis in Indonesia which is in second place, which is estimated at 1.6-13.6/100,000 people. High prevalence of gout arthritis at age ≥ 75 years (54.8%). Gout arthritis causes impaired physical mobility due to pain in the joints that interferes with activities. This case study aims to determine nursing care for Mrs. S with impaired physical mobility due to gout arthritis. The method used is a descriptive case study design method. The results of the case study found that Mrs. S complained of difficulty moving her legs because of pain in the toes and knees, her uric acid level was 7.7 mg/dL, her nursing diagnosis was impaired physical mobility. The interventions are warm compresses and health education regarding the gout arthritis diet. Implementation was carried out 6 times and showed a decrease in pain, could move his legs and decreased uric acid levels. The conclusion of this case study is that Mrs. S can move her legs and the pain is reduced with a scale of 2 out of 5, uric acid level is 6.5 mg/dL. Recommendations for nursing home nurses to facilitate warm compresses to other elderly people for 20 minutes and Perkesmas nurses to monitor the health of the elderly and provide guidance to the community regarding gout arthritis.
