Abstract

Compliance of pregnant women consuming Fe tablets still has a low coverage. This is associated with self-efficacy, namely beliefs about the ability of pregnant women to consume Fe tablets. Self-efficacy in compliance to consuming Fe tablets will affect the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and compliance to consuming Fe tablets in third trimester pregnant women at Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province. This research method is analytic observational with a cross sectional research design. The population in this study were third trimester pregnant women who had received 90 Fe tablets with a sample of 57 respondents who were taken by accidental sampling technique in May 2023. Data collection was carried out by interview method using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by Chi square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between pregnant women's self-efficacy and compliance to consuming Fe tablets at Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province (p-value = 0.037). Pregnant women who have low self-efficacy are at risk of 3.733 times greater for disobeying taking Fe tablets. This study concluded that self-efficacy is a risk factor for compliance to consumption of Fe tablets in third-trimester pregnant women at Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province. Health workers emphasize information on the importance of compliance, obedient pregnant women need to be involved as role models, and families need to be involved as companions.
