Abstract
Hypertension is a condition where the heart rate is abnormal, with a heart rate ≥ 140 mmHg at systolic heart rate and ≤ 90 mmHg at diastolic heart rate. One of the successes of treatment is influenced by the role of the patient in carrying out treatment with the aim of maintaining health status and avoiding any health complications. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and medication adherence in hypertensive patients. Research design with analytic correlation non-probability sampling technique with quota sampling method and obtained 91 respondents. The measurement tools used are MASES-R and MMAS8 with the Chi Square data analysis method. The output is that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and adherence to taking medication with a p-value of 0.000. The need for high self-efficacy behaviors in effort to increase medication adherence supported by adequate health workers human resources to provide appropriate management according to the needs of hypertensive patients and understandable education to improve medication adherence.
