Abstract
The measurement of Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) activity is one of the essential clinical chemistry tests used to detect liver function impairment. Liver function impairment remains a health concern that requires attention, particularly among informal sector workers such as street vendors due to continuous exposure to roadside air pollution and massive daily physical workloads. The objective of this study was to determine the profile of Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) enzyme activity among street vendors in the Jalan Babakan Loa, Gunung Batu area. This study utilized a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 30 street vendor respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. The assessment of ALT enzyme activity was performed using the kinetic-IFCC method in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory. The acquired data were descriptively analyzed and presented in the form of frequency distributions. The results showed that out of 30 respondents, as many as 29 respondents had normal ALT enzyme activity, while 1 respondent experienced elevated (abnormal) ALT activity. Higher ALT enzyme activity can be influenced by gender, productive age with high mobility, and high duration of daily physical activities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that most street vendors have normal ALT enzyme activity (96,67%), but there are still respondents with high ALT enzyme activity (3,33%). It is suggested for street vendors to use personal protective equipment such as masks while working, maintain adequate rest patterns, and undergo routine liver function health check-ups.
