Abstract
Stroke a non-communicable disease with high prevalence, often results in sequelae that affect both physical and psychological functions, including self-esteem among the elderly. This case study aims to analyze the effectiveness of positive affirmation therapy in improving self-esteem in elderly individuals with stroke sequelae in RW 09 Kedung Jaya Village. A descriptive case study approach was applied to two elderly participants (≥60 years) with low self-esteem. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and assessments using the Modified Rankin Scale (MRS) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) before and after the intervention. The results showed an improvement in self-esteem in one participant, while no change was observed in the other. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of positive affirmation therapy is individual-dependent and influenced by clinical conditions and adaptive capacity, highlighting the need for more comprehensive interventions.
