Abstract
Postpartum Family Planning (FP) was one of the important efforts in spacing pregnancies and maintaining the health of both mother and child. However, the implementation of this program still faced various challenges, including low rates of postpartum visits up to the final stage (KF4). The KF4 visit served as a strategic moment to conduct counseling on the use of postpartum contraception. The purpose of this Final Project Report was to provide midwifery care for postpartum family planning that was appropriate to the client's condition.
The method used in the preparation of this Final Project Report was a case study approach, with documentation using the SOAP format. Data collection techniques included interviews, physical examinations, observations, documentation reviews, and literature studies.
The assessment results obtained from subjective data indicated that Mrs. D, aged 25 years, P2A0, 30 days postpartum, came to the community health center complaining of confusion in choosing which contraceptive method to use due to limited knowledge about postpartum contraception. Mrs. D mentioned that she was currently breastfeeding her baby and experienced white-colored discharge. The objective data from the physical examination showed that Mrs. D was in good physical condition; her breasts were producing breast milk without any lumps, and she had alba lochia (white-colored discharge). The established diagnosis was that Mrs. D, aged 25, P2A0, was a prospective postpartum contraception acceptor. The management provided to Mrs. D involved midwifery care through counseling using the Decision-Making Aid Tool (ABPK).
The conclusion of the care provided, in accordance with postpartum family planning midwifery standards, was that Mrs. D decided to use the 3-month injectable contraceptive after discussing it with her husband. The recommendation for the client was to attend follow-up visits according to the scheduled time. The recommendation for midwives was to provide counseling to clients who were planning to use contraceptive methods and to assist them in making decisions based on their preferences.
