Abstract
The background that inspired the author to take this title is because the incidence of gastroenteritis has increased from 2.2% in 2013 to 6.8% in 2018 and is based on the District Health Office. Gastroenteritis is always ranked in the top 5 cases with the most hospitalizations, which if gastroenteritis is not treated optimally will cause a person to experience dehydration, kidney failure and even death. Gastroenteritis is a disease that attacks the human digestive system where this inflammation will cause a decrease in the colon's ability to absorb water and electrolytes, thus making the stool consistency liquid and its frequency more frequent, which can result in the body experiencing a lack of fluids and electrolytes: Hypovolemia. This case study aims to describe nursing care in Gastroenteritis patients with impaired fluid and electrolyte requirements: Hypovolemia at Al-Ihsan Hospital, West Java Province. The case study method used is a descriptive design with a case study. The subject of this study was a client who had gastroenteritis. Data collection used the medical surgical nursing care format and data presentation was carried out by narrating the answers obtained from the patient. The results of this case study are that there are 5 diagnoses with a focus on hypovolemia. The conclusion of this case study is gastroenteritis patients with impaired fluid and electrolyte requirements: Hypovolemia can be resolved by performing oral rehydration, administering infusions and closely monitoring fluid intake output. Therefore it is suggested to nurses to pay more attention to the patient's fluid intake and output as well as the patient's oral rehydration.
