Abstract

Junior high school students can be interpreted as a group of individuals who occupy the teaching and learning adolescent and are entering the early adolescent process. Parenting style is an important factor that can affect adolescent self-confidence. Now many teenagers who have low self-confidence, in the city of Bandung found that around 19% of junior high school teenagers have low self-confidence, while in 29 Junior High School Bandung City there are 15% of students who have low self-confidence. This study used a quantitative method with cross sectional techniques. Sampling was carried out using proportional random sampling technique as many as 86 students of class VII and VIII. Data collected using a questionnaire measuring tool by distributing questionnaires (google form) and analyzed using chi square with the results of the study showing a ρ value of 0.016 (p <0.05). It was concluded that there was a relationship between parenting style and early adolescent self-confidence at 29 Junior High School in the working area of Ledeng Comunity health center Bandung City, with parenting style in early adolescents being almost half (37,9%) permissive and early adolescent self-confidence almost half (43,7%) moderate. Based on this, the researchers suggest that parents optimize democratic parenting because can increase adolescent self-confidence.
