Abstract

West Java ranks second with the province experiencing 4 (four) earthquakes. The impact caused by the disaster as many as 6 (six) educational facilities were damaged. Junior high school 1 Cisarua is an area that is included in a high disaster-prone area because it is located in a hilly area and is right through the Lembang Fault. So that preparedness knowledge is very important given to students to reduce the impact of disasters. The study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and earthquake disaster preparedness in class VII students at junior high school 1 Cisarua, West Bandung Regency. Researchers used a cross sectional research design. Sampling using proportional random sampling technique. The number of samples obtained was 187 students. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and earthquake disaster preparedness with a p-value of 0.000<0.05. So there is a relationship between knowledge and earthquake disaster preparedness in class VII students of junior high school 1 Cisarua West Bandung Regency with a correlation coefficient of 0.314 indicating a moderate relationship and a positive direction. The better the knowledge of students, the more prepared they are in dealing with earthquakes. It is suggested for schools to provide training and disaster simulation to students to increase their knowledge and preparedness in dealing with earthquakes.
