Abstract

ABSTRACT In the practice of health services, sterilization is an absolute thing to do. Sterilization is a way to free something (tools, materials, media, etc.) from microorganisms that are not expected to be present (bacteria, fungi, viruses and spores). Sterilization of dental and oral health equipment is very important for health workers, especially clinical students to increase awareness of the susceptibility to cross infection. Students who have entered the clinical period as one of the dental and oral health workers, must have an understanding of the sterilization of dental and oral health equipment before starting dental and oral health measures. This type of research is descriptive research using primary data obtained through filling out questionnaires using google forms which aims to describe the level of understanding of the sterilization of dental and oral health devices in level II students of the Department of Dental Nursing, Health Polytechnic, Indonesian Ministry of Health, Bandung. The results showed that students' understanding of dental and oral health sterilization of 86 respondents 29.1% had an understanding with good criteria, 68.6% had an understanding with sufficient criteria, and 2.3% had an understanding with low criteria. Many factors influence respondents' understanding, although in this study students have received material and lessons at the same time by the same teacher, but because each individual has different thinking skills in understanding the material, it causes results in research. this is different too. Keywords : Student Understanding, Sterilization ABSTRAK Dalam praktek pelayanan kesehatan sterilisasi merupakan hal yag mutlak dilakukan. Sterilisasi adalah suatu cara untuk membebaskan sesuatu (alat, bahan, media, dll) dari mikroorganisme yang tidak diharapkan kehadirannya ()bakteri, jamur, virus dan spora). Sterilisasi alat kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan hal yang sangat penting terhadap tenaga kesehatan khususnya mahasiswa klinik untuk meningkatkan kewaspadaan terhadap kerentanan terjadi nya infeksi silang. Mahasiswa yang sudah memasuki masa klinik sebagai salah satu tenaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut, wajib memiliki pemahaman mengenai sterilisasi alat kesehatan gigi dan mulut sebelum memulai tindakan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriftif dengan menggunakan data primer yang didapat melalui pengisian kuisioner menggunakan google formulir yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat pemahaman tentang sterilisasi alat kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada mahasiswa tingkat II Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes RI Bandung. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa pemahaman mahasiswa tentang sterilisasi kesehatan gigi dan mulut dari 86 orang responden 29,1% memiliki pemahaman dengan kriteria baik, 68,6% memiliki pemahaman dengan kriteria cukup, dan 2,3% memiliki pemahaman dengan kriteria rendah. Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi pemahaman responden, meskipun dalam penelitian ini mahasiswa telah mendapatkan materi dan pelajaran diwaktu yang sama oleh pengajar yang sama akan tetapi dikarenakan setiap individu memiliki kemampuan berfikir yang berbeda-beda dalam memahami materi sehingga menyebabkan hasil dalam penelitian ini pun berbeda-beda pula.
