Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) or commonly called “Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD)” since it was first discovered in Indonesia in 1 968 until now are often the cause of death, especially in young children and adults. DHF also have spread to almost all parts of Indonesia. Province of West Java city of Bandung in particular to urban areas with high population densities supported by environmental sanitation conditions are still low, resulting in a high incidence of DHF still. Based on observations in the field extension DHF prevention efforts already scheduled one month one, but based on information obtained from the clinic that there are still many cases of DHF are annually increasing. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about the behavior of the disease DHF DHF disease prevention. This research is descriptive correlational. The populations of the whole community or family households are about 291 3 household with the sample for this research are about 352 households residing in the Sukagalih village, Sukajadi district of Bandung. The data collected by questionnaire and analyzed using univariate technique with the form of a frequency distribution and bivariate analysis with Kendal Tau and also using contingency coeficient for analyzing the characteristics of the respondents. Based on the research results in half (50%) families have a good level of knowledge, and more than half (53.1 %) had a family to support attitudes toward behavior DHF prevention. The results of the bivariate analysis there is a relationship / significant correlation between knowledge and attitudes towards disease prevention behaviors DHF with a p-value less than 0.01.
