Abstract

PEMANFAATAN MINYAK ATSIRI BUNGA CENGKEH (Eugenia aromaticum) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN Staphylococcus aureus ABSTRAK Tanaman cengkeh (Eugenia aromaticum), mempunyai sifat khas, karena semua bagiannya mulai dari akar, batang, daun, sampai bunga, mengandung minyak atsiri atau essential oil. Dalam bunga cengkeh terdapat kandungan senyawa antibakteri seperti flavonoid, tannin, alkoloid, dan eugenol. Senyawa tersebut dapat merusak struktur bakteri, salah satunya Staphylococcus aureus yang mana merupakan flora normal pada tubuh. Staphylococcus aureus menyebabkan berbagai penyakit infeksi pada manusia, seperti pneumonia, mastitis, flebitis, meningitis, dan infeksi pada saluran urin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi yang paling efektif dari minyak atsiri bunga cengkeh (Eugenia aromaticum) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus. Metode pada penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan Systematic Literature Review dengan model pengembangan yang digunakan meliputi 3 tahap yaitu: analisis (analysis), perancangan (design), dan pengembangan (development). Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa komponen utama minyak atsiri bunga cengkeh (Eugenia aromaticum) menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri dan antijamur. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah minyak atsiri bunga cengkeh (Eugenia aromaticum) dapat menghambat Staphylococcus aureus. Kata Kunci: Cengkeh, Minyak Atsiri, Staphylococcus aureus. UTILIZATION OF CLOVE FLOWER (Eugenia aromaticum) ESSENTIAL OIL AGAINST Staphylococcus aureus GROWTH ABSTRACT Clove plants (Eugenia aromaticum), have special characteristics. Every part of this plant, from the roots, the stems, the leaves, and the flowers contain essential oils. There are antibacterial compunds in cloves, such as flavonoids, tannins, alkoloid and eugenol. These compounds can damage the structure of bacteria, one of which is Staphylococcus aureus which is a normal bacteria flora of humans. Staphylococcus aureus causes various infectious diseases in humans, such as pneumonia, mastitis, phlebitis, meningitis, and infections of the urinary tract. This study aims to determine the most effective concentration of clove flower essential oil (Eugenia aromaticum) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. The method in this research is to use a Systematic Literature Review with the development model used which includes 3 stages: analysis, design, and development. The results of the study stated that the main component of clove flower essential oil (Eugenia aromaticum) showed antibacterial and antifungal activity. The conclusion of this research is the clove flower (Eugenia aromaticum) essential oil can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus. Keywords : Clove, Essential oils, Staphylococcus aureus
